Another in a series of "basically pop songs with decidedly non-pop instrumentation and chords and which are also kind of lullabies". In this case, a selection of instruments from each main orchestral section is combined with a skeleton pop-rock quartet (albeit with filters and low volume on the guitar and drums).

There are multiple "lead" instruments in this track. Harp I plays the main five-note "down the rabbit hole" refrain and is the first lead introduced, the celesta is the lead instrument in verse 1, the alto flute is the lead instrument in verse 2, the horns join in at the prechorus, and the choir comes in for the chorus.

The bass does not contribute much in the way of rhythmic content and instead has the important job of choosing the chords and inversions.

This track follows a somewhat unconventional format of double intro-two verses-prechorus-single chorus-outro. The verses are fairly standard, while the "chorus" is four groups of six bars in something akin to a round.

The track is meant to evoke growth, curiosity, and exploration in liminal spaces. It is inspired in-part (perhaps unsurprisingly) by Alice in Wonderland, and the usual "mystical forest in an rpg" flavor is also present.

about

Aaron Hodges-Boyle Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia

What I make is best described as "video game music to study or fall asleep to".

Beneath this umbrella, I have tried my hand at many genres; the only other significant commonality between my tracks is the absence of meaningful vocals.

I see each track as an experiment. While some experiments are more successful than others, each can provide a lesson. What will my music teach you?
